July 25, 2008 - A special message regarding BACB
® certification

ONTABA continues to work on matters relating to certification for practitioners of Behaviour Analysis in Ontario. Recently, in the ONTABA Analyst, I announced that ONTABA requested and was granted a two-year extension to the Alternative Pathways to BACB® certification. Thus, the Portfolio & Experience Option now ends July 1, 2010 and the Portfolio, Courses and Experience option now ends July 1, 2011.

Today I am also very pleased to announce that BACB® will accept the same qualifications for supervisors of Ontario applicants who are applying through the regular BACB® process (i.e., those with BACB®-approved course sequences) as is used in the BACB®-approved ONTABA Alternate Pathway. This policy will extend for the same duration as the ONTABA Alternate Pathway and will expire when the Alternate Pathway expires.

ONTABA sought this provision to enhance supervision options for persons in Ontario who have completed a BACB® -approved course sequence and are seeking certification through the standard BACB® processes. We are delighted that the request has been approved and very grateful to the BACB®.

ONTABA will be working in the coming months to ensure that appropriate forms and processes are in place to accommodate these changes.
